WV Aging and Disability Network
One of the key programs we partner with is the West Virginia Aging and Disability Network (ADRN). “The ADRN is a professionally staffed office that assists seniors and persons with disabilities find appropriate long-term care services and supports.” Staff “also help individuals apply for those services that suit their independent living and long-term care needs. The ADRN helps to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their long-term care services and support decisions. This is achieved by providing resource information, coordinating services, assistance with completing applications, and following up to ensure needs are met.” There is no charge for their services. Anyone over 60 years of age and individuals with physical disabilities over 18 years of age (or anyone acting on behalf of those individuals) is eligible.
There have been some recent changes to the Program. The Charleston office which had been located in the food court of the downtown mall has been moved to Dunbar and the Program has been taken over by the Metro Area Agency on Aging. Sally Blackburn is the new Program Director. There are also offices in Princeton, Fairmont and Petersburg. To contact the program call the State toll free number at (1-866-981-2372.) The call will be rolled over to whatever local office from which the county the person is calling from. If you need to leave a voice message a call will be returned within 48 hours. Drop ins are welcome but if you want to have a face to face meeting it is best to call in advance.
