The 2025 Kaufman Award Winner is Paula Harbour. Paula is a dedicated attorney, running a general practice firm in Huntington. She is a long-time volunteer with Legal Aid of West Virginia. Last year, Paula donated  88.3 hours of time working on pro bono cases.          

The Kaufman Award is a prestigious recognition given annually to the West Virginia attorney who has done the most pro bono work during the past year on behalf of the state’s low- income and vulnerable citizens.  The award is named after the late Paul J. Kaufman, a State Senator and leading public interest lawyer who founded West Virginia Legal Aid and the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund.
