The Pro Bono Distinguished Attorney Award annually recognizes an attorney whose pro bono efforts have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  

Lisa Hawrot is the 2025 recipient of this award. Lisa is the Co-Chair of Spilman, Thomas & Battle’s Family Law Practice Group, based in Wheeling.  She was selected for this recognition based on her volunteering countless hours working with Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Unit to develop resource materials and training on adoptions in grandparent and kinship cases.
