The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) program to help households pay for internet services they need for school, work, healthcare, and more.

The ACP can help eligible households in a couple of ways. Eligible households can get a discount of up to $30 per month on broadband service through the ACP.  The ACP can also provide a one-time $100 discount to help buy a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer from participating providers if eligible households contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

A household is eligible for the ACP if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

• Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
• Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income internet program;
• Participates in one of these assistance programs:
  • The National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision;
  • SNAP
  • Medicaid
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits
  • or Lifeline;

Generally, yes. There are three ways to apply:

1. Online: Go to AffordableConnectivity.gov to submit an application or to print out a mail-in application.
2. Mail: You can request a paper application by calling the ACP Support Center at (877) 384-2575 or by printing out a mail-in application from AffordableConnectivity.gov.
3. Through a Participating Internet Company: Apply directly through a participating provider. You can find these providers in West Virginia on the FCC website or by searching this website.

You do not have to apply, however, if your household is already participating in the Lifeline program.

A household is a group of people who live together and share money even if they are not related to each other.

Only one monthly service discount and one connected device discount is allowed per household.

This will depend on the service you select with your provider. The ACP will provide a $30 discount to any part of your service that is eligible.

No. The service provider is reimbursed for the amount of your plan that may be discounted.

No. The participating provider will receive the funds and then apply them to your account if you apply and qualify for the ACP.

No. The ACP can be applied to the cost of a bundle of services that include broadband, voice, texting and/or equipment (like a router). If your bundle also includes a TV service, you will pay that part of your bill. You will also pay any part of your bill that is not covered by the discount.
